DECREE FOR STADIUM AUDITS

-

INDONESIAN President Joko Widodo said he would order an audit of all football stadiums in the country, vowing to find the “root cause” of one of the deadliest disasters in the sport’s history. Meanwhile, soccer Andi Hariyanto said he would not watch a football match again after his wife, two daughters and a cousin were crushed to death in a stampede at the stadium in Malang in East Java, last Saturday. At least 131 people died when police fired tear gas to disperse agitated fans who had poured onto the pitch at the end of the match. |
