The Pension Funds Adjudicator, Muvhango Lukhaimane, continually comes up against employers failing to pay over the retirement fund contributions of their employees. In the latest case, an employee of the SA Transport and Allied Workers Union said the union failed to pay contributions on his behalf to the Satawu National Provident Fund. The fund indicated that, as of

August 3, the union had failed to pay the outstanding contributions of its staff, despite an agreement that it would. Lukhaimane ordered the union to pay the fund the complainant’s arrear contributions together with late payment interest.
