World Cup trophy back in SA soon
CAPETONIANS will this week get an opportunity to relive some 2010 Soccer World Cup fever as the trophy returns to South Africa.
The Coca-Cola World Cup Trophy Tour makes its way to Cape Town next month, and soccer fanatics in town who wish to see and pose with the trophy can head to the Newlands Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Coca-Cola recently announced a collaboration with R&B superstar Jason Derulo, to create the global anthem for the 2018 Fifa World Cup to be held in Russia in July.
The song, titled Colours, is said to be a celebration of all the vibrancy and excitement that comes with the arrival of the world’s biggest football tournament.
Set to be released on March 16, the song will become the soundtrack to fans’ excitement for the tournament, as it begins playing across the world in the build up to the kick off.
“I was honoured to work with Coca-Cola to create an anthem celebrating every team and their fans. Colours represents the different flags and cultures from around the world, and will get everyone moving to a unifying beat,” said Derulo.
“I’m excited to finally tell the world about this partnership as the excitement builds for the Fifa World Cup.”
