Fashion tips for horsing around

CURRENTLY in its eighth year, the Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo – known as the polo and social event of the year – celebrates the sport of kings and one of the world’s most unrivalled champagnes.

Set to return to Val de Vie Estate in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley next Saturday (March 3, 2018), the 2018 event allows guests to witness international polo players compete for the coveted Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo Cup.

But the polo matches are not the only excitement on show during the event.

In recent years, it has become synonymous with high-end yet chic fashion from both celebrities and other VIPs.

According to organisers, the polo and fashion extravaganza also recognises that you don’t have to have your name on billboards or magazines to turn out an eyecatching look.

The theme for this year’s event is “Cape Town Summer”, which promises to immerse guests in the famed Cape Town summer feeling of clear blue skies and endless afternoons of sunshine.

This feeling, with the spectacular fashion, hospitality, fast-paced polo and champagne on tap, promises to make for a supreme afternoon at one of the world’s most prestigious equestrian estates.

But how does one dress for a “Cape Town Summer”themed event?

According to event co-organiser Anina Malherbe-Lan: “For the ladies, it’s soft, flowy dresses and jumpsuits. For gentleman, summer suits in light summer fabrics.” – Lifestyle Reporter
