-

A 10.91 HECTARE family wine estate in The Craggs, a popular area 20km from Plettenberg Bay, will go on auction on Wednesday.

Redford Lane Wines includes a wine farm, stables, a restaurant and wine-tasting facilities, says Tanya Jovanovski, franchisee of Rawson Auctions Western Cape.

The estate is often used as a venue for live band events and is directly opposite polo grounds, she says.

Wine estate: Includes 2.5 ha of vineyards sectioned off with fencing. There is plenty of room to plant more vines and expand production.

“The two dams on the property are full of bass, and there are also two vegetable tunnels with raisedbed vegetable boxes, adjoining roof storage, and irrigation for the tunnel with an electronic time station. The estate has a cool storage room and an irrigation system for paddocks around the stable block.”

Main house: Is accessed by means of a private entrance, while a second entrance leads to the estate. The house comprises three bedrooms, two bathrooms, (one en-suite), a guest toilet, study, large kitchen, dining room and lounge.

The surrounding garden keeps the property private and separate from the wine estate. The outdoor area includes a jungle gym, a double garage currently used as a workshop and three carports.

Restaurant: Can seat 70 people inside and on an outdoor deck area that overlooks the dams and offers mountain views.

Jovanovski says: “There is a fully-equipped kitchen; a full liquor licence that includes sales on the premises, off sales and micro-manufacturing; an Eden Foods certificate; another jungle gym; a floating stage; plenty of parking; and a point-of-sales system with wifi.

Stables: For five horses and a separate lean-to which could accommodate two additional horses. The property includes a feed room, tack room, dressage arena, lunge ring, an extra-large garage to park a horse trailer, electrified paddocks, and a barn for shavings and grass storage.

A list of farm equipment which will be included in the sale can be requested from Rawson Auctions.

The auction will take place at noon on Wednesday. The reserve price is R13.5 million, but all offers will be reviewed.
