Prince’s family sues doc

Weekend Argus (Sunday Edition) - - WORLD -

NEW YORK: Relatives of late pop star Prince are suing a Minnesota doctor who prescribed narcotics before his death for allegedly failing to properly diagnose and treat an opioid addiction, the Minneapolis Star Tribune has reported.

A wrongful-death lawsuit filed against Dr Michael Schulenberg and by proxy his employer, North Memorial Health Care, accused him of twice administering powerful painkillers “without a legitimate medical purpose in the days preceding Prince’s death”.

The 57-year-old Purple Rain singer was found dead from an apparently accidental overdose in April 2016. Schulenberg has previously been fined $30 000 by the authorities.
