Burst pipe leads to water spill
A RIVER of water flowed down Port Elizabeth’s Strand Street yesterday after a pipe burst in Central, flooding an area where hawkers ply their trade.
Nelson Mandela Bay municipal spokesman Mthubanzi Mniki said the municipality was working on fixing the pipe.
Thabisa Lubambo, 30, who runs a fruit stand, said when she arrived just before 7am yesterday the water was already flowing.
“What is worrying is that this is clean water that is freely flowing down the street whereas the Municipality has strict measures on the usage of water,” Lubambo said.
“I thought the problem would be sorted out by now.” – Yoliswa Sobuwa
