BOY PRESUMED DROWNED AFTER SCHOOL OUTING

-

PAUL CHAMBERS: How can you go to an outing with so many pupils and only two teachers to watch the kids? This tragedy would not have happened had there been more supervisors

NCESH SOKAUKILE: This is so sad. I’m shocked that it’s not even two months since my son and another boy drowned there, and two others before them, now the teachers are taking kids to the same dangerous river

CLAIRE BARNES: I am so so sorry for the loss of this young life. I pray for strength for the family during this difficult time. A child lost affects us all

SHERYLIN SCHNEIDER: There should be at least one teacher for every 10 pupils. Also inform lifesavers to be in the vicinity for such cases. If it’s hot and children are near water, it’s natural to want to swim

DEBBIE SOPER: Children should not be taken swimming on school outings. It’s too much responsibility for teachers and tragic accidents happen often

PHILLIP MEYER: Why not split the group into two for separate days? It makes more sense and it’s easier to look after the children and notice when one is not around
