The animals are originally from the Marakele National Park in Limpopo and were kept in bomas at the Addo Elephant National Park for three months before their departure. The milestone translocation was undertaken by SANParks to expand the range of black rhino which survive in just a handful of African countries and as an important gesture of “rhino-plomacy”.
