THE funeral of well-known Port Elizabeth doctor and anti-apartheid activist Jayaseelan Moodliar will be held in Walmer tomorrow.
Moodliar, who was at the forefront of the black resistance campaign against apartheid government, died on Thursday, aged 81.
Moodliar was president of the Port Elizabeth Black Civic Organisation (Pebco) in 1980, putting his life on the line to provide medical attention to black casualties injured in violent confrontations with state security forces in the ’80s.
He helped some of the victims in the 1985 Uitenhage Langa massacre.
The ANC extended its condolences to the Moodliar family.
The funeral will be held at the Walmer Town Hall at 9.30am. – Rochelle de Kock
