Relief filled the faces of Anesh Ramjettan and Omesh Balraj as the man who gunned down their brother was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Kidesh Ramjettan, 37, was shot at point-blank range at his Rossburgh petrol station, south of Durban, in August.

Johannesburg taxi driver Ayanda Shezi‚ 34‚ and his co-accused‚ Menziwa Mdaka and Zakhele Dubazane‚ were arrested in Gauteng two months later.

Shezi had pleaded guilty to murder and Mdaka and Dubazane are yet to plead.

On Friday‚ Shezi appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court, where magistrate Sifiso Luthuli slammed the way the young father of one was killed.

“The nature of this murder and the brazen manner it was carried out, in execution style‚ far outweigh the fact that the accused pleaded guilty‚” Luthuli said.

Mdaka and Dubazane will appear in court on November 22 for a formal bail application.
