Po­lice dog sniffs out gun at flat

A po­lice dog sniffed out a firearm at a flat in Sid­well on Thurs­day.

Po­lice re­sponded at 8pm to in­for­ma­tion about firearms be­ing seen at the Kudu Flats in Gould Street.

Po­lice spokesper­son Colonel Priscilla Naidu said a man had spot­ted of­fi­cers as they ar­rived and fled up a stair­way.

“As po­lice chased him, he dis­ap­peared.

“The ex­plo­sive de­tec­tion dog Max was re­leased and on the se­cond floor he re­acted pos­i­tively to a blue plas­tic bag near a door.”

A .38 re­volver and five rounds of am­mu­ni­tion were found. No ar­rests were made. –
