HURT ROD­DICK OUT OF FRENCH OPEN

PARIS — Andy Rod­dick joined the list of play­ers who will miss the French Open start­ing to­mor­row, with the num­ber 11 with­draw­ing from the clay­court ma­jor with a shoul­der in­jury.

The 28-year-old, whose last two years have been in­jury-plagued, picked up the prob­lem last week in Rome and had to pull out from the dou­bles fi­nal.

Rod­dick also missed the ATP’s Nice event this week and is now hop­ing to be ready for the grass sea­son at Queen’s club, Lon­don, on June 6.

Chile’s Fer­nando Gon­za­lez is also out of Paris with a knee in­jury af­ter un­der­go­ing hip surgery last au­tumn. Also ab­sent are both Wil­liams sis­ters (Venus and Ser­ena), for­mer num­ber one Di­nara Sa­fina and Ar­gen­tine David Nal­ban­dian. — Sapa-DPA.
