HURT RODDICK OUT OF FRENCH OPEN
PARIS — Andy Roddick joined the list of players who will miss the French Open starting tomorrow, with the number 11 withdrawing from the claycourt major with a shoulder injury.
The 28-year-old, whose last two years have been injury-plagued, picked up the problem last week in Rome and had to pull out from the doubles final.
Roddick also missed the ATP’s Nice event this week and is now hoping to be ready for the grass season at Queen’s club, London, on June 6.
Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez is also out of Paris with a knee injury after undergoing hip surgery last autumn. Also absent are both Williams sisters (Venus and Serena), former number one Dinara Safina and Argentine David Nalbandian. — Sapa-DPA.
