LAST weekend’s Golden Globe Awards fea­tured some of the strangest mo­ments of any award cer­e­mony in re­cent years. Here are some of the best mo­ments ac­cord­ing to The Hol­ly­wood Reporter. • Al­fonso Cuaron, win­ner of the Best Di­rec­tor award for Grav­ity, told guests at the Bev­erly Hil­ton that his grasp of the English lan­guage some­times led to hu­mor­ous mix­ups on set. Ad­dress­ing his star, San­dra Bul­lock, he said, “I want to thank you for not quit­ting when you thought that I had told you, ‘San­dra, I’m go­ing to give you her­pes,’ when I re­ally meant to say, ‘San­dra, I’m go­ing to give you an ear­piece’.”

• In her ac­cep­tance speech for Best Ac­tress Al­fonso Cuaron, Best Di­rec­tor win­ner for

Grav­ity. in a Mo­tion Pic­ture — Drama, Blue Jas­mine star Cate Blanchett ref­er­enced the late Judy Gar­land, who died of an over­dose of bar­bi­tu­rates in 1969, say­ing: “Thank you to my agents for ply­ing me with vodka in the same way that Judy Gar­land was prob­a­bly plied with bar­bi­tu­rates.”

• A proud Kevin Ba­con and Kyra Sedg­wick, whose daugh­ter, Sosie Ba­con, was this year’s Miss Golden Globe, were am­bushed on stage by “Mr Golden Globe”, who was re­vealed to be “Randy”, Tina Fey’s son from a pre­vi­ous re­la­tion­ship.

Randy was in fact Fey’s co­host, Amy Poehler, in a blonde wig and tuxedo. When Fey threat­ened to send Randy to live with his fa­ther, Randy re­sponded: “You won’t tell me who he is.”

“He’s here tonight, so look around,” Fey shot back. First up was Idris Elba, star of
