KZN dealerships and sales staff featured prominently in Honda Motor SA’s recent Dealer Excellence Awards.

The annual gala event, which was held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, honoured the performance of automobile and motorcycle dealerships nationwide. The Honda Auto dealers that walked away with the awards were Tygerberg, Pinetown, Port Elizabeth and Richards Bay, Zane Crawford at Honda Wing in Pietermaritzburg is the best bike salesperson among Honda Wing’s small dealerships. while Tygerberg, Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg were named the Honda Wing Dealerships of the Year.

Top bike seller among Honda’s smaller dealers, Zane Crawford, told Weekend Witness he mostly sells the rugged XR to farmers who discovered cheaper Chinese bikes do not come with Honda’s level of parts support. “I’ve been with Honda since 1981 and this is the only corporate I know of that often fixes things out of warranty. This brand stands by its reputation for reliability. Honda bikes may not be the fastest, but they are the most reliable and also comfortable.”

Crawford encouraged commuters to get a leg over a scooter. “One of my clients, a photographer, got 48 km per litre from the NP750 [scooter] on a recent road trip... This is the kind of fantastic mileage scooters offer people.” Honda Motor SA’s KZN winners:
