The book is dedicated to your mother. What was she like?
My mother, Catherine, was the epitome of grace. She was a reflection of love and single-handedly raised five of us and made sure we all had professions. She loved home-made bread, fondly called ujeqe in isiZulu, with bean curry. When I miss her, I cook one of her favourites, roast leg of lamb twisted with Granny Smith apples and roast vegetables.
