How to make rice on the stove

Place 340 g long-grain rice in a saucepan with 2¼ cups cold water (or judge the level by measuring the water from the top of the rice until it reaches the first joint of your forefinger). Cover, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 10–15 minutes. Turn off the heat but leave the rice on the stovetop, covered, for 5–10 minutes to completely absorb the water. Fluff with a fork and serve.
