When lockdown hit, tour guide Faieez Alexander (below with his sister Fatiyah Safodien Rossier) had to come up with another way to make ends meet. He began making koesisters (adapted from his mother’s recipe) to sell to friends, family and Facebook community on Sundays. He sold over 2 000 in the first week. When Vannie Kaap and KFM’s World Koesister Day contest rolled round in September last year, Faieez entered and was crowned koesister king. Or, as Vannie Kaap quipped, the “koebrother”, as they’ll now be known!
