HOW TO TREAT YOUR POTJIE RIGHT

Before using it for the first time, wash the inside of your potjie with a mixture of dishwashing liquid and boiling hot water. Then, brush the inside with cooking oil and heat it until smoking hot. Carefully wipe away the oil using kitchen paper and your potjie is ready to use! To store it, wash and dry the potjie and rub the outside and inside with vegetable oil to “season” it and protect it from rust. Fill it with balls of newspaper to help absorb moisture.
