THULADU MNGADI,

FRESH FOOD DAILY

-

Thuladu says her catering business was born out of necessity and a passion for food. “I grew up in Umlazi and started cooking at a young age. I watched my grandmother make meals from whatever she found in the kitchen – she made sure we never went to bed hungry.” But cooking wasn’t part of her plan at first. “I got into the food industry after being retrenched. With no experience, little capital, and a lot of research, I started Fresh Food Daily and have never looked back.”

Now in its sixth year and having a gained co-owner in the form of Thuladu’s daughter Maluti, Fresh Food Daily has established a customer base that loves them for delivering on their promise. “Although we also do fine dining-style dinners, we mostly offer wholesome meals that feel like they were cooked at home.”

Thuladu says Durban has always helped her feel connected to her heritage. “There are so many different cultures here, so it’s easy to celebrate traditions through food, from our famous Durban curry to tripe and samp.” Fresh Food Daily has now created an extension in the form of a fine-dining restaurant in the heart of bustling Florida Road. “Thuladu Restaurant and Bar will be a true connection between fine dining and traditional cuisine.” @freshfoodwith2ladu
