CReAMY MUShRooM STeAKS
The perfect steak should be about 2,5-3 cm thick to ensure it chars on the outside and is soft and juicy inside. If it’s too thin it will dry out.
SERVES 2 Preparation time: 10 min Cooking time: 1015 min Standing time: 10 min
STEAKS 2 T-bone steaks,
3 cm thick salt and freshly ground black pepper 15 ml (1 T) Worces
ter sauce 60 ml (¼ c) BBQ
sauce 30 ml (2 T) garlic
butter SAUCE 15 ml (1 T) oil 125 g mushrooms,
sliced 2 garlic cloves,
chopped 125 ml (½ c) sour
cream handful grated
Parmesan cheese TO SERVE 2 thin slices
Cheddar cheese freshly baked bread
rolls to serve 1 Steaks Season the steaks on both sides with salt, pepper and Worcester sauce 2 Braai the steaks over hot coals while basting with BBQ sauce Braai each side for 3-4 minutes or until cooked as preferred (see cooking tips on page 20) 3 Spoon the garlic butter over the steaks Set aside to rest for 10 minutes 4 Sauce Heat the oil and fry the mushrooms and garlic until done, about 3 minutes Add the sour cream and simmer until slightly thickened, for about 3 minutes Add the Parmesan cheese and stir till melted 5 To serve Place the cheese on the steaks and spoon the sauce over Serve with rolls
