1 x basic bread dough (see recipe above left) flour for coating butter golden syrup grated Cheddar

cheese

SERVES 6 Preparatio­n

10 min Extra rising 15 min Braaiing 20 min

1 Prepare the dough according to the recipe and allow to rise.

2 Pinch off fist-size balls and roll in flour. Allow to rise for a further 15 minutes.

3 Arrange on a braai grid and braai over moderate coals for 20 minutes or until done. Turn often. Knock on the base to check if they’re done – they should sound hollow.

4 Serve with butter, syrup and cheese.
