Why do you love braai­ing?

It’s so true to our way of life and is some­thing that ev­ery­one loves do­ing. It’s a South African tra­di­tion for peo­ple to bond over good food, good meat and good wine. I as­so­ciate these things with a good braai! It’s all about the at­mos­phere that it cre­ates and peo­ple com­ing to­gether, which is why I look for any op­por­tu­nity to have a braai. Some­times, even if we don’t have guests, I’ll feel fes­tive enough and my hus­band and I will braai.

What is your braai must-have and what makes it so spe­cial?

Prob­a­bly our se­cret mari­nade sauce! And it IS a se­cret so I’m not go­ing to tell you what’s in it! But it is true to our braai­ing style and my love of Asian food. I al­ways love hav­ing a lit­tle bit of Asian fu­sion, so we’ll have the tra­di­tional South African braai but bring an in­ter­na­tional flavour to it.
