Griddlecakes (roosterkoek)
1 x basic bread dough (see recipe right) flour for coating butter, golden syrup, grated Cheddar
cheese to serve
1 Prepare the dough according to the recipe and allow to rise.
2 Pinch off fist-size balls and roll in flour. Allow to rise for a further 15 minutes.
3 Arrange on a braai grid and braai over moderate coals for 20 minutes or until done. Turn often. Knock on the base to check if they’re done – they should sound hollow.
4 Serve with butter, syrup and cheese.
