WHAT GRADES DO YOU NEED FOR EACH INSTITUTION?
When applying to a university, whether for full-time or part-time study or an online course, you need to have passed matric to be accepted. The minimum academic requirements for university courses are 30% for English or Afrikaans and 50-59% in four of the national senior certificate (NSC) 20-credit school subjects .
Minimum requirements for admission to most universities of technology, private colleges and speciality schools are a NSC, which means you must have passed matric with a three (40%) or higher in four of the NSC’s 20-credit subjects.
At TVET colleges you don’t need matric and can apply to study with a Grade 9 certificate. But you must be at least 16 years old.
