GRANDWEST
Many students are funded every year by a GrandWest Socio-Economic Development Bursary to study hospitality and related courses, including entrepreneurship, marketing and tourism.
WHO CAN APPLY Western Cape matriculants under the age of 27 who are registered for their first year of study at the universities of Cape Town, the Western Cape or Stellenbosch or the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
Bursaries don’t have to be repaid, but students are encouraged to take part in communitybased projects and will need to submit reports of their volunteering duties. Students will need to reapply for funding each year.
WHAT’S COVERED Registration, tuition and R5 000 for textbooks. Accommodation isn’t covered.

SA CHEFS BRYAN MONTGOMERY
The SA Chefs Association (Saca) is a nonprofit body that represents talented chefs, cooks and caterers at all levels in SA.
They offer bursaries for students in recognised culinary training programmes at a Saca-approved institution.
WHO CAN APPLY SA citizens or permanent residents aged between 18 and 25 who have completed matric or equivalent and are enrolled to study towards a recognised culinary training qualification at an SA Chefs training member institution. Bursary recipients must be willing to be available to Saca and sponsors for PR purposes.
WHAT'S COVERED Bursaries are awarded up to R35 000 towards the current year’s tuition.

DREAM RESORTS BURSARY
Dream Hotels & Resorts offers financial assistance to students through their Tourism & You programme. They offer a bursary for the leadership development course at the Stellenbosch Graduate Institute (part-time

12 months); a bursary for an online course in hospitality management at any international hotel school (part-time 12 months); a bursary for disabled students towards an online hospitality learnership programme (part-time 12 months); and bursaries for students in their first year of study for a degree or equivalent study programme in hospitality management (three years full-time).
WHO CAN APPLY SA citizens aged between 18 and 27 who have passed matric or equivalent, speak English and are computer literate. Applicants for the degree or equivalent bursary must have been accepted to study at a university. Preference is given to guests, employees of the company and members of the surrounding community.
WHAT'S COVERED The value of the bursary will be decided on a case-by-case basis and will depend on the course fees and other expenses. Renewal of the three-year bursary will depend on the student’s academic results.
