This role is to conduct environmental impact studies that identify possible risks to the environment (such as when a new road is built) and offer solutions. Some environmental scientists help companies or industries to set standards and guidelines.

〉〉AIR POLLUTION ANALYST
The job involves collecting, testing and analysing air samples to check their quality and help organisations and industries to curb dangerous levels of air pollution.

◗ BSc in chemistry from any university
◗ Diploma and advanced diploma in environmental health from Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein, Mangosuthu University of Technology in Durban or Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria.
〉〉RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEER
People in this job help to ensure SA uses less fossil fuels. They design and develop products, processes and procedures to generate electricity using renewable resources. Renewable fuels include biodiesel, hydrogen, ethanol, methanol and vegetable oils.
QUALIFICATION OPTIONS
◗ BSc Engineering in biofuels from the University of Kwa-Zulu-Natal.
◗ BSc Eng in chemical engineering from most universities including the University of Cape Town or Wits.
