Peanut but­ter and jam buns

Two clas­sic in­gre­di­ents come to­gether to make yet an­other favourite sweet treat – buns!

1 kg cake flour

7 ml (1½ t) salt

30 ml (2 T) su­gar

10 g in­stant dry yeast

750 ml (3 c) luke­warm wa­ter 400 g peanut but­ter

450 g straw­berry jam


230 g cream cheese

125 ml (½ c) ic­ing su­gar,


80 ml (¹⁄₃ c) straw­berry jam

Pre­heat the oven to 180 °C and line two 25 cm x 20 cm cake tins, in­clud­ing the sides, with grease­proof pa­per.

1 Buns Sift the flour, salt and su­gar in a large bowl. Add the yeast and mix. Make a well in the mid­dle and pour in the wa­ter.

2 Mix un­til a wet dough forms. Turn out onto a large flat sur­face and knead for about 10 min­utes. Leave the dough in a large lightly oiled bowl to rise for 40 min­utes or un­til it has dou­bled in size.

3 Knock the dough down and roll out into a rec­tan­gu­lar shape, about 1 cm thick. Spread the peanut but­ter evenly across the dough fol­lowed by the jam. Roll up the dough, cut into 2 cm-thick slices and ar­range in the tins.

4 Leave to rise for a sec­ond time, about 10-15 min­utes. Bake for 20-25 min­utes un­til cooked.

5 Glaze Whisk the in­gre­di­ents to­gether and driz­zle on top.
