FEELING FRESH
Let your skin breathe with these gentle products for cleansing your face
LIPS
We buy long-lasting or matte lipsticks to stay on throughout the day and not smear when we’re eating or drinking. But when these products are high quality they can be quite tough to take off.
Removing the colour might require a few gentle rubs with a make-up remover that’s mild on your skin yet tough enough to dispense with lipstick.
The key is to be gentle. First apply petroleum jelly over your lipstick – it helps to dissolves the product. Then use make-up removing wipes or cotton wool soaked with makeup remover.
Wipe gently until all traces of lipstick are gone. Moisturise immediately afterwards.
EYES
The skin on the face is extremely delicate but around the eyes it’s even thinner and more fragile. This is why most make-up removers shouldn’t be used on the eye area.
Opt for a product that’s specially formulated to care for the eye area and don’t rub the product into the skin.
These products works by dissolving make-up without you having to do much work.
To make the process gentler and more effective, soak the cotton wool or pad with eye make-up remover and hold it in place over the eye for a few seconds. Then, with as little pressure as possible, wipe the cotton wool over the eye area.
Repeat this step only once more to get rid of any remaining residue.
FACE
If you don’t clean your skin, your foundation can penetrate your pores and block them, causing blackheads or enlarged pores.
Look for make-up removal products that moisturise as they clean.
When removing makeup, don’t go over the same area more than three times as this might irritate the skin and cause it to become red or dry.
You might still need to wash your face with a mild cleanser afterwards.
