THE DRAMA OVER THE YEARS

-

Kim’s unhappiness over her salary seems to have caused never-ending issues.

S December 2004 The first public dispute between Kim and Sarah comes to light after the sixth and final season of the TV show wraps. Kim reportedly wants $1 million (then R5,5 million) an episode – up from $350 000 (then R1,9 million) – the same as lead actress Sarah – if the show continues. When her demands aren’t met she decides to move on.

S May 2008 Filming for the first SATC movie is delayed due to ongoing salary negotiations. Kim wants more.

S January 2010 In an interview with the Daily Mail, Kim says, “People don’t want to believe that we get on. They have too much invested in the idea of two strong, successful women fighting with each other. I think Sarah is fantastic.”

S May 2010 The stars sing a slightly different tune when they appear on the cover of Marie Claire. “You’re on set, you’re working 90-hour weeks, you’re never home, you’re exhausted,” Sarah tells the mag. “There are times when all of us have been sensitive and sometimes feelings get hurt.”

S August 2016 For Kim’s 60th birthday Sarah takes to Instagram to wish her co-star “the very best for a perfectly marvellous, joyous, healthy and adventurefilled birthday year”. But fans don’t believe her, and Sarah addresses the issue in an interview with Time magazine. “I posted something on Kim’s birthday and people were like, ‘Oh my God, I didn’t know you liked her!’ “What? We were all at liberty to walk away at any time! But nobody asked those questions of shows with men. Isn’t that interesting?”
