Drought talk

-

I thought I’d share some of my watersaving tips with your readers.

Use one bath of water between two of you. Carry bath water in a bucket to the garden. Bath only every second day. Flush the toilet only for No 2s. Use bath water for laundry. For dishwashing use just two litres of water. Use the same dish rinsing water for three days. Use laundry rinsing water in the garden. Wash cars out of buckets.

Fix dripping taps. Turn on the shower to wet the body, turn it off, soap up then turn on the shower to rinse.

Small children should share a bath. Capture rainwater from roofs. Every little bit helps if we all make an effort. P VISSER, SPRINGBOK

STaking the terrible drought in Cape Town into consideration I’m actively involved in doing my bit to save water. I understand that in every bathroom in the V&A Waterfront only one tap is working while the others are turned off.

I’m all for it and appreciate their efforts, but I was shocked to visit the other day and find not a single tap was working in most of the restrooms. The women working in there just shrugged.

Does no one realise what a disaster it would be if an epidemic broke out? I’m not convinced those sanitizing gels protect you 100%. Only soap and water does the job!

We should take more care! WATER WORRIER, EMAIL

SBecause of the Cape Town water crisis I now take my own bottled water to the hairdresser. I’d like to think others do the same. SANDRA, CAPE TOWN
