Have you heard
LATE last year actor CHANNING TATUM whisked his wife, actress JENNA DEWAN TATUM, away for an idyllic holiday in Mexico to celebrate her birthday. The couple (both 37) left their four-yearold daughter, EVERLY, at home and let their millions of social media followers in on their revelry as they soaked up the sun. At one point Jenna posed next to an elaborate birthday message written in the sand – a sweet gesture organised by her hubby.
But just four months later the pair shocked fans by announcing their split via a shared social media post. Their seemingly carefree break in Los Cabos had, in fact, been a last-ditch attempt to save their fractured marriage.
Although they’ve been at pains to say there was no drama behind the break-up, there does appear to have been some tension – Channing wasn’t spending a huge amount of time at home.
“He left for weeks at a time for trips with friends,” a source close to Jenna told Us Weekly magazine. “Jenna wanted him to go out and do the things he wanted to do and was always supportive. But it became clear he enjoyed being away. She gave him all the space he wanted but it wasn’t good for their marriage.”
A source close to the couple told news website Page Six that time apart is indeed what ultimately ended the marriage. “Channing has been working nonstop, with four movies announced for 2018 alone. It’s hard on a marriage to be apart so much, especially when you have a young child.”
According to sources Channing’s excessive drinking was another contributing factor. The Kingsman: The Golden Circle star told GQ magazine in 2014 he believed he was an alcoholic. Then he suggested his marriage hadn’t changed his wild ways as Jenna “knew what she bought into”.
Jenna first hinted there might be trouble in paradise during an interview for Health magazine’s February edition, saying there were days when the couple “don’t really like each other”.
“When people say you guys have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no one’s perfect. We fight like other couples, we disagree about things,” the Supergirl actress said.
Following their sudden announcement, fans took to social media to voice their shock. “If Channing and Jenna can’t make it who can?” one tweeted.
