GEORGE, 2012
As the third in line to the throne, Prince George had a rather smart christening. He was baptised at three months old at Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. Yet despite ticking all the pomp boxes it was an intimate ceremony with only 23 guests – all close friends and relatives.
The duke and duchess invited only five senior members of the British royal family – William’s father, Prince Charles, stepmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, brother Prince Harry, and grandparents Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Another break with tradition was the venue: George is the first future monarch of modern times not to be christened in Buckingham Palace, where his father and grandfather were christened.
