TRAGEDY FOR TINA

- BY LINDSAY DE FREITAS

Moments after music legend TINA TURNER (78) was pictured smiling on the red carpet at Giorgio Armani’s haute couture show in Paris, news broke that her son CRAIG RAYMOND (59) had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in California.

Tina was 18 when she had Craig with saxophonist Raymond Hill. When the GoldenEye singer married musician IKE TURNER, he adopted Craig and she adopted his sons, MICHAEL (59) and IKE JNR (60). The couple also had a son together, RONNIE (57).

Craig’s death is another blow to a family already too familiar with heartache. Just two months ago Ike Jnr claimed Tina had abandoned her sons entirely after moving to Switzerland with her second husband, German music producer Erwin Bach (62), in 1994.

“My mother is living her life – she has a new husband and she’s in Europe. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with the past,” he said at the time.

A few months ago Tina said she’d forgiven Ike – who died from a cocaine overdose in 2007 aged 76 – despite the years of abuse he put her through. “As an old person, I’ve forgiven him, but I wouldn’t work with him. He asked for one more tour with me and I said, ‘No, absolutely not.’ Ike wasn’t someone you could forgive and allow him back in.”
