THE CAKE
A layer of wedding cake from a royal couple’s nuptials is traditionally kept for their children’s christenings. William and Kate’s towering eight-tier confection was made from 17 individual fruit cakes, decorated with 900 individually iced flowers and 17 different varieties of leaves.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge set aside three layers of their wedding cake in 2011, their baker Fiona Cairns revealed. One was served at George’s christening, another at Charlotte’s, and the third at the private tea at Clarence House after Louis’ christening – so he might be the last little one they’ve planned.
