Bocelli takeover!
Singing legend Andrea Bocelli and his son team up on a winning ballad
The Italian opera star’s first release with his son Matteo, Fall on Me, has got fans everywhere teary-eyed. The beautiful ballad, which the pair co-wrote, is about the special bond between parent and child. “Anyone who’s a parent, who knows the responsibility, will understand the meaning of the song,” the 60-year-old blind tenor says.
The video for the song, which sees the two dressed in tuxedos and playing grand pianos, has already racked up 17 million views on YouTube. The track also features on the soundtrack of the Disney flick The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, which is out now. Fall on Me is off Andrea’s new album, Si (“yes” in Italian), released last month. It’s his first album in 14 years and features 16 new songs celebrating family, love and faith.
Matteo is Andrea’s youngest son from his first marriage to Enrica Cenzatti (42). The 21-year-old hit the spotlight earlier this year when he lent his model good looks to fashion campaigns for Guess alongside singer J Lo.
Andrea says his and Matteo’s voices are “technically very different” but “similar in attitude”. “That characteristic way of expressing yourself through your voice . . . but that’s something you can’t learn. That’s something you’re born with.”
Andrea’s wife, Veronica Berti (34), is also his manager. The couple have a six-year-old daughter, Virginia.
