A war against Pravin Gordhan is a war against accountability and an effort to discredit those who could expose the EFF’s scandals, political columnist Max du Preez says.

He says the EFF’s alleged links to the VBS Mutual Bank collapse is one scandal in which the party has been accused of benefiting millions.

Political analyst Ralph Mathekga agrees. “The EFF are masters of disruptive politics,” he says. “They trade conspiracies on the streets where they’re accountable to no one, while benefiting from functioning formal institutions such as the courts.

“The party practises the most insincere and disingenuous form of politics that plays on genuine issues of society but with no aim to find actual solutions, only to remain the disruptor.”
