Home ground: Eurolux Boland Park, Paarl Former Proteas assistant coach Adrian Birrell is the coach, and national skipper Faf du Plessis is captain.

Rocks, currently fourth on the log*, also boasts the talents of Aiden Markram, Tabraiz Shamsi and the West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo, who played one game then left for the T10 League in the United Arab Emirates. Former Highveld Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana is the side’s assistant coach.

Du Plessis is proud to be involved with the Rocks. “Last year the Proteas started chatting about where we’d like to go and having moved down to Cape Town, I knew JP [Duminy] was going to go to Cape Town Blitz so I was first to say, ‘Please, please can I go to Paarl?’.

“When I got the nod I was obviously very happy as it’s close to home.

“And me being a wine drinker, being near the winelands is very nice.”
