With cars worth R15 million on set, making his new music video was a slightly nerve-racking experience. And that’s not all, DANNY K (41) says.

“We also had artworks worth a few million, watches, jewels and clothes worth who knows how much . . . We were all nervous that nothing should go missing!” the singer says of the shoot in Johannesburg for his new single, Things We Do.

Danny says he’s a bit of a control freak and gets over-involved in his music videos, which tends to make it a stressful experience anyway.

“I also tried my hand at directing this one, which added to the complexity. It did however feel natural for me to get back in front of the camera – I guess it’s like riding a bicycle,” he tells YOU.

It’s been a busy year for the singer and his wife, attorney Lisa Koppel (33), as they’ve adjusted to life as a family of four. Sons Jayden (4) and Kyle (19 months) keep them on their toes, he says. “It’s been really busy but amazing, filled with all the usual things that growing families go through. Learning to travel with kids, to mediate and to split the workload. It’s shown us we’re capable of actually doing this parent thing!”

The Koppels are looking forward to unwinding over the holidays and will be keeping it local. “We’ll be at our favourite hotel, The Oyster Box in Umhlanga, for a while and then go down to our family home in Cape Town over New Year,” Danny says.
