AMANDA IS BACK!

-

SHE was once considered young Hollywood royalty until she went through an embarrassing public meltdown that included drugs, bad wigs and a succession of bizarre tweets. Now after shunning the spotlight for years, Amanda Bynes has broke her silence in Paper magazine’s annual Break the Internet issue. Here’s what we learnt . . . She’d been smoking dagga since the age of 16 The former Nickelodeon star admits to smoking marijuana as a teen and later dabbling in drugs such as ecstasy and cocaine. “Everybody is different, obviously, but for me, the mixture of marijuana and whatever other drugs and sometimes drinking really messed up my brain,” the 32-year-old claims. “It really made me a completely different person.” She insists that drugs, not mental illness, were to blame for her erratic behaviour “It definitely isn’t fun when people diagnose you with what they think you [have]. That was always really bothersome to me. Truly, for me, [my behaviour] was drug-induced and whenever I got off [drugs], I was always back to normal.” On her bizarre tweeting sprees “Everything I worked my whole life to achieve I kind of ruined it all through Twitter. It’s definitely not Twitter’s fault – it’s my own fault.” The Easy A actress even made the “really foolish” decision to announce her retirement on the microblogging site. “If I was going to retire [the right way], I should’ve done it in a press statement – but I did it on Twitter. Real classy!” She’s planning her Hollywood comeback When asked whether she’ll return to acting, Amanda said she wants to re-enter the business “kind of the same way I did as a kid, which is with excitement, and hope for the best”. She says she wants to have a chance to “try it all” and doesn’t want to limit herself by only going for certain types of roles.
