ROBIN’S CREW After reprising his role as Eggsy in the second Kingsman movie, Welsh actor Taron Egerton is back in the latest version of Robin Hood. The classic 14th-century folktale tells the story of Robin of Loxley, a war-hardened Crusader who becomes a “noble outlaw” by stealing from the rich to give to the poor in revolt against the corrupt English crown.

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx plays Robin’s Moorish mentor, Little John. Eve Hewson stars as his love interest, Maid Marian, Jamie Dornan plays his half-brother, Will Scarlett, and Ben Mendelsohn is the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham.

GRITTY REMAKE It’s been eight years since the previous Robin Hood remake. Taron initially felt movie fans might not be ready for another film about the infamous English archer and almost turned down the role, but after reading the script and seeing its modern take on the story he decided to give it a shot.

Jamie says audiences shouldn’t expect Old English and tights. “The way they shot it was crazy, it looks as if you’re watching Zero Dark Thirty. We’re shooting with our bows, but they computergenerated it so it’s rapid-fire, almost like an AK. I saw that and was, like, ‘Oh, they ain’t ready for this!’ ”

BUDDING BROMANCE Taron (29) says the film is “high-octane, fast-paced and fun” and he loved working and bonding with Foxx on set. “To have that kind of buddy relationship going with him in the film is quite exciting. He’s nurturing and encouraging . . . a great guy.”

Foxx is equally in awe of his co-star. “Taron is such a great action hero. He kills this s**t. He looks so great as Robin Hood. That f***ing jawline!”

‘This film has nothing to do with any of the other Robin Hoods that have been made. I didn’t watch them, I wasn’t influenced by them at all. The version we made is completely and utterly different from anything you’ve seen before’ – Director Otto Bathurst
