SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO
Thriller. Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and his shady CIA team are once again disrupting the drug trade, but with greater ferocity as they now believe drug cartels are in league with terrorists.
They stage the kidnapping of a drug lord’s teenage daughter (Isabela Moner from Instant Family) to pit rival cartels against each other, but things quickly get messier than planned.
Brolin, and Benicio Del Toro as Alejandro, Matt’s go-to troublemaker, are good, as is Moner. But without Emily Blunt’s character from the 2015 film this sequel – while a slick, well-made thriller– lacks the humanity to ground it. 2018. 117 MIN. 16LV.
