SHARCHOP TRIBE, BHUTAN
The striking face of a woman of the Sharchop clan resplendent in traditional dress in Bhutan, a landlocked country between India and China. The culture and language of Bhutanese tribes are related to those of the people from Assam and West Bengal; some are descendants of slaves imported from India. The population of Bhutan is about 820 000, of which the Sharchop and Ngalop people constitute 45%.
