HOW THE KIDS ARE HANDLING IT
Divorce isn’t easy for children and each of the six Jolie-Pitt kids have been dealing with things in their own way.
Maddox, Pax and Zahara The three oldest kids sided with their mom after the split, according to multiple sources, and all had a tough time “making amends with their dad”.
“They felt he was always yelling and unhappy,” one insider says.
A social worker reportedly recommended Angie seek joint custody of the kids, on condition that Pax and Zahara have therapy sessions with Brad.
Maddox is believed to have refused therapy. “Maddox is Angie’s closest confidant and he’s always been headstrong and protective of his mother,” a source in Camp Brad says. “Brad has accepted he’ll likely never be able to repair the relationship.”
The bond between Pax and his dad is looking just as tenuous. Court documents reportedly reveal how Brad hadn’t wanted to adopt the three-year-old Vietnamese orphan in 2007 at all. Brad was apparently concerned about adopting another child less than a year after Shiloh’s birth but Angie went ahead with it anyway.
She allegedly told Brad, “Pax needs me more than Shiloh.”
It “was a very difficult time in their relationship”, a source involved in the case said. “But Brad stayed.”
Luckily for Brad, his relationship with Zahara is believed to be improving as the months go by. Shiloh The “loving and gentle” tomboy has been playing peacekeeper of sorts, insiders say. “She’s the most willing and eager for things to work out with Brad.”
Shiloh was close to her dad before the break-up and “hates conflict”, a family source says. “She’s always been the most amenable of the kids to seeing her father. She emails and messages him regularly.” The twins Thankfully, Vivienne and Knox have been “sheltered from a lot of issues”, those in the know say, although it’s obviously been impossible for none of the drama and unpleasantness to have rubbed off on them.
They like seeing their dad, Brad’s friends say, but Vivienne is closer to her mom.
