OUR no-nonsense boss has always seemed like a cold-hearted person to me. That was until President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Covid-19 a national disaster.

As our service station business slowed down due to lockdown regulations, we were given only two days a week each to work, which meant our salaries were cut in half.

But then our boss surprised us all when he gave each staff member food parcels in the second week of lockdown.

We were taken aback as no one expected such goodwill from him.

He did the same again during the last week of level 5 of lockdown.

That’s when I realised our boss isn’t cold-hearted after all. He’s earned our respect.

I salute all the employers who rose to the occasion and offered relief from hunger to their workers. SATISFIED EMPLOYEE, EMAIL
