THE NEED TO FEED

We were happy when the president announced that food parcels would be given to those who lost income due to lockdown (YOU, 21 May), but our happiness was short-lived as the parcels were given only to a portion of community members.

Many people who are starving and qualify for food parcels don’t even know where to apply for them. On the other hand people who don’t qualify to benefit from the relief scheme do get parcels. Hunger knows no politics. If you’re hungry, you need food now.

Without proper planning and implementation, food parcels will still go to the wrong people while the deserving beneficiaries continue to starve.

If we can support the president to enforce the lockdown regulations, why can’t we do the same in ensuring that everyone’s stomach is full? E KUBU, GA-RANKUWA VIEW
