Ben won a best supporting actor Emmy in 2016 for his performance in the Netflix series Bloodline.

The Australian became good friends with fellow actor Ryan Gosling after the pair starred together in the movie The Place Beyond the Pines. Ben called their time improvising on set together “magical” and Ryan went on to cast Ben in his directorial debut, Lost River.
