‘I’mnoracist!’

-

DOJA CAT is the latest celeb to be called out for racism after a 2015 track called Dindu Nuffin resurfaced. Dindu Nuffin is a slur often used against black people who’ve faced police violence. Doja (24), real name Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini, says she now regrets releasing the track. “It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me. I’m a black woman. Half of my family is black from South Africa and I’m very proud of where I come from,” she said.

“As for the old song that’s resurfaced, it was in no way tied to anything outside of my own personal experience. It was written in response to people who often used that term to hurt me. I made an attempt to flip its meaning, but recognise it was a bad decision to use the term in my music.”

She has promised “to do better” in future.
