New smash hit When you’ve got a dance-floor banger sung by these two pop powerhouses it’s pretty much a given it’s going to be a smash hit. It’s had the biggest first-day in streams in 2020 thus far and has also broken the record for biggest single-day streams for an all-female collaboration on Spotify.

The track features on Gaga’s brand-new album, Chromatica, and according to the singer it’s a “lyrical celebration of all the tears”.

Each singer takes a turn on a verse and they join up on the chorus where they sing, “I’d rather be dry, but at least I’m alive/Rain on me, rain, rain.”

The music video opens with Gaga lying on the ground with a stab wound in her thigh as it rains. The water then changes to knives and she’s joined by Grande, who takes her hand and they start dancing.

Mutual admiration The stars have expressed their mutual adoration for each other after working together. “Thank you for reminding me I’m strong. I’m super emotional and love you so very much. I cherish you @ArianaGrande,” tweeted Gaga.

In a series of tweets, Ariana gushed how quickly she bonded with Gaga, writing, “One time . . . I met a woman who knew pain the same way I did . . . who cried as much as I did, drank as much wine as I did, ate as much pasta as I did and whose heart was bigger than her whole body. She immediately felt like a sister to me . . .

“She then held my hand and invited me into the beautiful world of Chromatica and together we got to express how beautiful and healing it feels to mothaf** king cry! I love you, @ladygaga.”
