JANEZ VERMEIREN

Describe your skincare routine. To be honest all I use is Dove Men + Care Wash and a face bar. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? Hair clay. It’s great for keeping it in condition and makes styling so much easier. How do you pamper yourself? I don’t really pamper myself. Once in a blue moon my wife will put one of her face masks on me – if someone offers to pamper me, I won’t say no. Do you have a grooming trick to share? Buy a nose hair clipper – it’s my best buy ever! What’s your favourite fragrance? Anything fresh and masculine. Blue de Chanel is great. ‘I don’t really pamper myself. Once in a blue moon my wife will put one of her face masks on me - if someone offers to pamper me, I won’t say no’

THABISO MAKHUBELA

Describe your skincare routine. My skin goes through quite a bit on a typical day. I have to wear full makeup for Expresso, which runs for three hours. I usually have business engagements after that and then often have to go to various locations to shoot inserts for Expresso.

The first thing I do when I get home from a day like this is cleanse then tone and moisturise my skin. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? I love a good cologne and spend quite a bit on some good ones. Otherwise my grooming products aren’t complicated. Nivea shower gel, a Woolworths set of face and hair products, charcoal scrub, vegan purifying clay mask, 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner, and Garnier Pure 3-in-1 cleanser. How do you pamper yourself? I try to go for a spa treatment when I can. My favourite pamper session includes an intense Thai massage. I enjoy a good facial too. What’s your favourite fragrance? What I like changes often because there are so many great fragrances for men out there, and I like a lot of them.

Cartier Déclaration is my current favourite. I love how versatile it is. It works as a day-to-day fragrance and is great for those important social dinners or dates.

JIMMY NEVIS

Describe your skincare routine. L’Oréal Hydra Energetic Face Scrub in the mornings and Nivea Cocoa Butter after I shower. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? Currently I’m using Fijnbos Facial Essence + Cape Cactus Jelly in the evenings. This is one of my favourite products. I also love the Sh’Zen Spa Additive Sportswash. How do you pamper yourself? I love treating my family and friends to spa days. I also make an event out of my pamper sessions at home, which usually include a good bottle of wine and a dope playlist. Do you have a grooming trick to share? I have sensitive skin, so I always groom my facial hair the night before an event instead of on the day – it gives my skin time to regulate while I sleep.

I also find my skin gets oily when I fly, so I always keep wet wipes and facial moisturiser with me so I look fresh off the flight. What’s your favourite fragrance? I love Versace. Honestly, the design of the bottle looks so good in my bathroom. ‘My skin gets oily when I fly so I always keep wet wipes with me’

CHAD LE CLOS

Describe your skincare routine. My girlfriend usually helps me out with that.

She picks out a nice face wash for me and also taught me to moisturise daily, especially as I spend most of my days in chlorine water. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? Skincare products, fragrance and a nice quality shaver. How do you pamper yourself? An Epsom salt bath at the end of a hard week and weekly physio massages. Do you have a grooming trick to share? Men shouldn’t be afraid to look after their skin. What’s your favourite fragrance? Anything by Versace. ‘My girlfriend picks out a nice face wash for me and also taught me to moisturise daily, especially as I spend most of my days in chlorine water’

WAYNE PARNELL

Describe your skincare routine. Normally I’d just use a face wash and a moisturiser with SPF. But during lockdown my wife has been giving me facials, and I’m not complaining at all. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? I don’t mind splashing a buck on a nice cologne. How do you pamper yourself? I love being pampered and I’m enjoying it more and more as I get older. My wife has played a massive role in this – she’s great at pampering me! Do you have a grooming trick to share? Because I travel a lot, I’d say my beard trimmer is most important in my grooming kit. What’s your favourite fragrance? Gucci Guilty Oud. When you know, you know. Trust me! ‘Normally I’d just use a face wash and a moisturiser with SPF. But during lockdown my wife has been giving me facials, so I’m not complaining at all’

ROB BENTELE

Describe your skincare routine. Twice a week I mix a mask made from bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar and a little water. It burns like hell but it does the job! Every morning I wash my face with African Extracts Rooibos Facial Cleansing Bar.

I have dry skin, so hydrate with Neutrogena Hydro Boost and then African Extracts Rooibos Nourishing Cream. I have a cream for day and night. I often get breakouts, so have to be religious about my routine. Which grooming products do you like spending money on? I’m not too into that field, hey – I just got advice on what I should use, and it worked so I stuck with it. African Extracts and Himalaya are nice brands. When it comes to antiperspirant, I use only Mitchum. How do you pamper yourself? I train a lot, so my body gets pretty sore, so definitely a nice full body massage. Sorbet Man in Rosebank [Johannesburg] usually invites me for one. They’re fantastic! Do you have a grooming trick to share? My clay face mask is a winner – it sorted out my pimples fast! In two weeks you’ll have new fresh skin on your face. What’s your favourite fragrance? Diesel Spirit of the Brave. I was initially attracted to the strong branding. And it does smell fantastic. If you want to know what I smell like all the time get yourself a bottle!
